Hydrogen is a flammable and explosive gas with a low ignition point. When mixed with oxygen in air, it readily forms an explosive mixture. Hydrogen has a low density and rises easily, making leaks difficult to detect. However, once accumulated, it can easily cause fires or explosions. Potential risks of leakage and explosion include hydrogen leaks, electrical equipment malfunctions, and improper operation.
Safety operating procedures require that hydrogen generators be installed in well-ventilated areas, away from sources of ignition and flammable materials. Before installation, ensure that all pipes, valves, and joints meet design requirements, and regularly inspect all components, especially seals and valves, for integrity. The working environment must be well-ventilated; it is recommended to install hydrogen detectors around the instrument to monitor gas concentration in real time. Electrical equipment used must meet explosion-proof requirements, and electrical wiring should be inspected regularly. The instrument should be maintained and repaired regularly according to the manufacturer's recommendations, and vulnerable parts should be replaced promptly. Operators must be professionally trained, understand the equipment operating procedures and emergency response methods, and smoking and the use of any open flames are strictly prohibited in the work area. In addition, appropriate fire extinguishing equipment, such as carbon dioxide fire extinguishers or dry powder fire extinguishers, should be provided, and their effectiveness should be checked regularly.
