The standards and precautions for storing hydrogen cylinders include the following:
1. Hydrogen cylinders should be stored in a cool, well-ventilated warehouse. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 30℃, and they should be kept away from fire and heat sources, and protected from direct sunlight.
2. Hydrogen cylinders should be stored separately from oxygen, compressed air, halogens (fluorine, chlorine, bromine), oxidizers, etc. Mixed storage and transportation are strictly prohibited.
3. The warehouse should be equipped with explosion-proof electrical equipment and appropriate types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment. The use of machinery and tools that may generate sparks is prohibited.
4. When handling and using hydrogen cylinders, handle them with care, and avoid knocking or collisions.
5. Hydrogen cylinders must be inspected every 3 years as required. Cylinders that have not been inspected within their expiration period are strictly prohibited from being filled or used.
6. Hydrogen cylinders must be used exclusively for their intended purpose and must not be misappropriated or substituted. They should be painted dark green, and unauthorized alterations to the color markings and stamped seals on the cylinders are prohibited. 7. Carefully check the color markings and stamped seals on the gas cylinders before use to prevent misuse.
8. When using hydrogen cylinders on-site (indoors) for production purposes, the number should not exceed 5 cylinders, and the room must be well-ventilated to ensure that the hydrogen content in the air does not exceed 1% (by volume).
9. Ventilation windows or exhaust vents must be installed on the top of the building or the upper part of the exterior wall. The exhaust vents should face a safe area. The indoor air exchange rate should not be less than 3 times per hour, and in case of an accident, the ventilation rate should not be less than 7 times per hour.
10. The distance between indoor hydrogen cylinders and containers and cylinders containing flammable, explosive, combustible substances or oxidizing gases should not be less than 8 meters; the distance between them and open flames or ordinary electrical equipment should not be less than 10 meters; and the distance between them and the air intakes of air conditioning units, air compressors, and ventilation equipment should not be less than 20 meters.
11. Supports should be provided to fix the hydrogen cylinders. When using gas cylinders in multi-story buildings, except for special production needs, they should generally be placed on the top floor near the exterior wall.
12. Do not continue to use the valve or pressure regulator if it leaks. Never replace a valve under pressure if it is damaged.
13. Never completely empty the gas in the cylinder; always maintain a residual pressure of at least 0.05 MPa.
